Physiological Testing Day
Friday 10th July 2026
Tri Training Harder has partnered with The Altitude Centre to offer athletes access to a range of physiological testing services in a single dedicated testing day. Whether you are looking to establish accurate training zones, understand your endurance potential, optimise your fuelling strategy or simply gain a deeper understanding of how your body responds to exercise, physiological testing can provide valuable insights to support your training and racing.
Testing will take place in The Altitude Centre's performance laboratory in London and will be conducted by their experienced Sports Science team. TTH Coaches will be on site to help implement and integrate this into your training. All appointments are booked directly through The Altitude Centre's booking system, but use the link below.
Following testing, athletes receive a detailed report outlining their results, along with a follow-up consultation to help interpret the data and understand how it can be applied to training and racing.
Why Consider Physiological Testing?
Physiological testing helps move training decisions away from guesswork and towards evidence-based planning.
Key benefits include:
Establish accurate, individual training zones.
Understand your current fitness profile and performance potential.
Identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
Assess aerobic efficiency and exercise economy.
Better understand how your body utilises carbohydrates and fat during exercise.
Develop more personalised pacing, fuelling and hydration strategies.
Monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of your training over time.

Start fuelling smarter. Generic nutrition recommendations can only take you so far. Fuel Utilisation Testing uses ExoAnalytics' advanced metabolic testing technology to identify how your body processes and uses carbohydrates during exercise.
The test helps determine:
Carbohydrate oxidation rates
Fat oxidation rates
Maximum carbohydrate utilisation capacity
Personal fuelling requirements
Understanding how much carbohydrate your body can effectively process allows you to develop a personalised fuelling strategy that can improve performance while reducing the risk of gastrointestinal issues during training and racing.
Results can help you:
Optimise race-day fuelling
Reduce stomach discomfort and digestive issues
Improve energy availability during long sessions
Increase confidence in your nutrition strategy
Make more informed decisions around carbohydrate intake
Best suited for: Athletes racing long-course triathlon, marathon, ultra-endurance events or anyone wanting a personalised nutrition strategy.

For athletes seeking the most comprehensive physiological profile, the combined assessment provides both VO₂ Max and lactate threshold testing within a single session.
This delivers:
VO₂ Max
LT1 and LT2
Individual training zones
Exercise economy
Ventilatory thresholds
Aerobic efficiency metrics
Combining both tests provides a detailed picture of both your endurance potential and how you currently perform metabolically.
Best suited for: Athletes seeking the most complete understanding of their physiology and training requirements.
-
(75 mins) – £179
Lactate threshold testing uses small finger-prick blood samples taken throughout an incremental exercise test to measure blood lactate accumulation.
This allows accurate identification of:
Lactate Threshold 1 (LT1)
Lactate Threshold 2 (LT2)
Individual training zones
Sustainable race intensities
For many endurance athletes, lactate testing provides the most accurate method for setting training zones and understanding the intensity levels they can sustain during training and racing.
Testing can also be performed at altitude or sea level to provide location-specific training and racing guidance.
Best suited for: Athletes seeking highly accurate training zones and race-intensity guidance.
-
(75 mins) – £159
VO₂ Max is widely recognised as one of the key indicators of endurance performance and aerobic capacity. During the test, exercise intensity gradually increases while your oxygen consumption is measured continuously. This allows the sports science team to assess:
VO₂ Max
Aerobic and anaerobic thresholds
Exercise economy
Ventilatory responses to exercise
The results provide valuable insight into your endurance potential and can help identify areas where future training may have the greatest impact.
Best suited for: Athletes wanting to understand their aerobic capacity, performance potential and physiological profile.

(~45mins) – £139
Struggling with cramping, dehydration, fatigue or inconsistent race-day performance? Hydration requirements vary significantly between athletes. Sweat sodium concentration can differ by as much as fifteen-fold between individuals, making generic hydration advice unreliable.
This test measures your individual sodium loss rate, allowing you to build a personalised hydration strategy based on your physiology rather than averages.
Results can help improve:
Hydration planning
Electrolyte intake
Race-day nutrition strategies
Performance in hot conditions
Recovery from longer sessions and events
Best suited for: Athletes who experience cramping, dehydration issues, heavy salt loss or compete regularly in warm conditions.
