Sustainability: Creating a Lasting Positive Impact Beyond Activity

All endurance sports take advantage of the beauty of the world we live in. However, as endurance athletes enjoying the great outdoors, we must also be mindful of our impact. Although athletes tend to use green forms of locomotion (swimming, cycling, and running!), our increased travel and eating often mean that we have a more significant impact on the environment than we would like. Race organisers worldwide have already looked at reducing littering on the courses and considering the impact on the community in the area. Still, Tri Training Harder would like to be part of the solution. In 2024, we did an impact assessment on our business and identified three key areas that we are negatively impacting the world we live in.

  • Travel to training camps

  • Travel to races and training venues

  • General endurance lifestyle, including food.

How are we making a difference?

As a result of this assessment, although we are a small company with a very modest impact, we want to be industry leaders who make a difference. Therefore, we partnered with Climategames to help offset our carbon usage and improve the world we live in. Now, we completely offset the impact we have on all our training camps for our staff and all our guests. Furthermore, we offer our guests the chance also to offset their impact, resulting in a positive impact. Although our 1:2:1 coaching has a very modest impact, we also offer all athletes the chance to use their training to offset their impact, too. This means that as a company, we are actively making the world a better place through the fitness and positive role models we work with and the environment.

To be clear:

  • We offset the carbon from each training camp and ask our clients to match us, making it better than carbon-neutral!

  • We use the training camps to launch events that offset the rest of our business’ carbon impact.

  • We encourage our employees to sign up to offset what they think they use.

How can you help us make a difference?

All our clients can sign up for a one-off payment (e.g., to offset a training camp or event) or a subscription to cover their impact. We also match the impact we are creating as a business and create events through the Climategames app to offset the work we do. Athletes can participate in the event (e.g., run 30km a month!). These events work with verified projects around the globe, so you know that each event has made a difference.

How Climategames Works

Through Climategames, every workout, run, swim, walk, row, or cycle can help fund ecological projects, from tree planting, plastic removal, and coral reef restoration to sequestering methane and carbon dioxide. Climategames gamify activities and enable departments to work as a team towards a common goal or create individual targets, all while funding verified climate projects.
