The Tri Training Harder Race Team introduces Ross Macdonald: top performing AG triathlete
Ross Macdonald
This is part of a series of articles introducing the members of the Tri Training Harder Race Team: number 1 in series of 6.
Age: 27
Main race: 70.3® Staffordshire (Qualifier for 70.3® World Champs)
Main aim: Podium at 70.3® World
Championships, Zell am See and gain a Professional license for 2016.
Thoughts on the race team: ‘this year the team seems stronger,
faster and more prepared for the season ahead than ever due to the support of
The Bosworth Clinic over the team weekend. Good times ahead!’
What’s in store for 2015:
Ross looks to have an exciting
year ahead of him as he heads into his third season on the Tri Training Harder
race team. He will be racing along with all the other team athletes at 70.3®
Staffordshire in June, hoping to secure himself a slot at the 70.3® World
Championships. He will continue to race in Olympic distance races along with running
the London Marathon in April which he will use as training in the lead up to
his most important races this year.
Whether racing on or off-road,
Ross is consistently near the top and definitely has the potential to realise
his ambitions to Podium at the 70.3® World Championships and achieve a sub-nine
hour IRONMAN® in 2016.

70.3® Kronborg 2014: 4hrs

Resolutions (UK), which allows him to combine his law degree and love for all
sports. Sport Resolutions administers the National Anti-Doping Panel and
National Safeguarding Panel in sport. In addition to this Ross is also studying
for a Masters in ‘Sports Law and Practice’ by distance learning.
Background:
Ross has been competing in
triathlons since the age of 12. Now at age 27, he has a great deal of
experience in racing at all levels. In 2009 Ross came 9th male PRO and 14th
overall at 70.3® UK in the same year he became the British Universities
Multisport Champion.
Ross was Captain of Swansea
University Triathlon Team from 2008 to 2010 whilst studying for his law degree
and in 2010 was awarded Swansea University Sportsman of the Year, an award won
the previous year by the Welsh International Rugby player, Alun Wyn Jones. Ross
has competed at elite level in UK triathlon and duathlon scene, coming 5th in
the UK elite duathlon championships in 2008. In 2012 Ross decided to try
Age-Group racing for a year, racing in the 20-24 Age Category. Ross came 4th in
the British Standard Distance Triathlon Championships and picked up a silver
medal in the British Duathlon Championships. He followed this up by winning
Gold in the 20-24 Age Group at the World Duathlon Championships in Nancy,
France.
As well as multi-discipline
competitions, Ross enjoys obstacle races and fell-running. For the past 6 years
Ross has consistently finished in the top positions in the Survival of the
Fittest Series, winning the Cardiff event in 2011 and coming 3rd in the London event
